Gul & Nazir take Pakistan to Twenty20 Final
Umar Gul emerged as Wrecker in Chief with his 3 wicket haul before Imran Nazir blunted the Kiwi attack with an attacking half century as Pakistan thrashed the Kiwis by 6 wickets to storm in to the final of the inaugral Twenty20 Cricket World Cup.
Batting first, New Zealand got a good start but after a brief rain interruption and then Gul’s destructive spell, left them gasping for breath, Ross Taylor top scored for the kiwis with an unbeaten 37 but New Zealand could only manage 143 for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Chasing this modest total, Pakistan got off to a flying start with the openers Imran Nazir and Mohammad Hafeez sharing a 60 run opening stand in just 7 overs which laid the foundation for a big win for Pakistan.
